Flo Rida

How to convience my daughter school that Right Round is okay for her to play at the school Talent Show?

After practicing for 3 months, the Talent show is less then one month away and the Vice Principal of the school said that this song was not appropriate for her to do her Gymnastics routine to for the school. We only use 2 min and 2 secs of the song and After reading the lyrics and hearing over and over for the past 3 months, I don't see the problem.
Can you help me get around this? No matter what song you listen too they ALL have alternate meanings. My 9 year old likes the music value of the song and the beat and tempo. She is to young to actually think about words that mean other things... please help?
Is there a version of the song out there with just the music and the chorus and not the words in the song? I am in panic mood with less then one month from show time and she is pretty upset.

Are you on crack? Flo Rida has a great song but not for a school talent show. These kids know more than you think at nine years of age. Just because it sounds great doesn't mean that you should play it in school. The song is about going to see a girl in a strip club. Your values and other peoples values are not the same and you have to remember that when you are in a school surronding trying to intertain. I personally let my children listen to all kinds of music but I want them to understand the lyrics and know what they are listening to. Most of the time they tell me what a song means. If the music tempo and the beat are what you are after edit the lyrics out and just use the music.

Yes, I would like this. I really like the music and temo for her gymnastic routine. I did ask her what she thought the song meant. She told me it was about "apples" Don't ask were she got that from, but if that is what she thinks its about, then so be it. After this all happened, I told her it was about dancers getting paid for dancing. Again her comment back was "whats wrong with that, we pay to see people dance at the ballett all the time" She has a point. She is very inocent and has no clue what the true meaning of the song is. All she knows is that it is a cool song to dance to and it was on Amerian Idol, so it must be cool. I am old school and really don't listen to hip hop on a regular basis, but my parents didn't listen to rock either, but I grew up fine. Personally, since I saw the song on American Idol which is a show geared towards kids and teenagers, I thought it was fine. The song is suggestive of inappropriate behavior, but it doesn't come out and say it outright. Even after reading the lyrics, I didn't have a problem. It doesn't talk about drugs, violance or bad language. Yes, the pole dancing thing is a problem with elem. school kids, but I guess they would have to know what pole dancing was to be corrupted. Around here, we have May day and all the little girls dance around a Pole called a May Pole. I am sure some sick mind will look at that at child porn some day and we will have to stop that tradition.
So after saying this, If I could get a hold of a instrumental version of this song, that would be great. I don't even mind if it has the chorus part of you spin my head round in it. I think the school would approve that. I have no clue how to edit the singing part out of a song. You can e-mail it to me, that would be great. My e-mail address is mnr422@aol.com
Thanks

I agree with April and with you Renee. I know its late to advise you or provide any suggestion but your question made me to think. I've never been in a similar situation but your question made me realize that I can face it someday. There is not any problem with listening to songs or music and Flo Rida Tracks are awesome; but I agree with April that we should focus on lyrics. I also focus on understanding the meaning of the song and especially the lyrics. We must teach our children that how to take these things and how to act accordingly.

Well there are some who believe that children do what they listen. And I also agree that listening inspires the children to do the same. So I think that there must be some way to control or what they say 'gate keep' the content which is being delivered to the children.

And I also agree that children now know more than what we think of them but it doesn't mean that we should let them do what ever they want to. I would have never allowed my daughter to dance on such song.

One can has one's opinion so no regrets. Its what I think.

Have you got your copy..? I also need a copy of that song.
If any one here can provide it to me, please message me here on the forum.

I don't need it for my self.. I need it to give someone else who runs massage therapy schools in various locations.

If some one can do it, I'll be really great full. There's no compulsion regarding lyrics anything one can get is appreciated.
