Instead of ripping off titles like
"You Spin Me Round" by Dead or Alive, which was warped into "Right Round"
or "Blue" by Eiffel 65, which was warped into "Sugar"
So my question is, why doesn't this "musical genius" get off his fat ass (put a shirt on) and write his own music? It's not hard to throw shitty rhymes together on top of a (stolen) chorus. Just make your OWN shitty chorus to put together with your shitty rhymes.
hmm i wonder, 3 songs on ROOTS were sampled because the album is about what he grew up hearing, & thats why He did right round.
On Mail On Sunday, He doesn't sample at all!
If I grew up with hearing music I enjoyed, I sure as hell wouldn't defile it like he did. It's sickening, really.
There is only ONE Flo Rida song anyone mildly cares about that doesn't involve sampling, and that's "Low." And, surprise, surprise, it's absolute garbage. If he can't achieve success without ripping off other music, he should just quit before someone decides to shoot him.
SG, you seem stuck in the 80s. There is nothing stopping you from playing the originals if thats what you like. I perfer to hear mixed tracks, its fun, rocks and reminds me of stuff i already like. Flo does a great job with his form of music. I will be spinning Flo's tracks this Friday, looking forward to it. Jump and Available are the two best club mixes on Roots. This new Flo blows "Low" out of the water. Get over it
You some points but why do you have to be so picky about them they are good songfs and he makes them into his own just like how different artists sings Jingle Bells it is the same... but you do have a point
i hate people goin on about flo rida rippin off music well he never has done.... he/company paid for the rights for the "Samples" to go onto his songs.... if you look none of his beats on Right round or Sugar represents the old versions only the lyrics in the chrous are the same..... at the same time the melody, hook, rap and flow are way way different to Eiffel 65 and You spin me right round baby right round 1970's record, flo rida da bomb he makes party-rap music which is the best music around at the moment, none of his work is negative, he is such a humble dude which is creating hot music and look where its got him at the top right now #1 err-day.... i dont like other rappers talking negative about guns, killing drug dealing, knifes etc...i personally dont like rap thats to deep like that....but some beats may be sick... there the ones who set bad example to the people who they look up to.. theres no surprise how the fucking world is today... MY POSITIVE TUNEZ FROM MY MAN FLO!!! keep it up carol city err-day!!!
Sampling is an intregral part of hip hop and has been since 'Apache' was integrated into Sugarhill Gang's version of the song. Also to be fair you do make a good point about the amount of sampling in Flo Rida's music...for the record there are actually only five (out of 13) tracks on the album that don't use elements of another song. I fail to see how that is really different from any other hip hop album today. I am not a big Flo Rida fan personally but speaking from a professional perspective, some of the more subtle samples on the album are extremely well used and really compliment the other musical elements, especially in tracks like 'Rewind' and 'Finally Here.'
In fact in my latest interview with Flo, we actually discussed his sampling technique amongst other things like his latest projects. If you want to take a read then a teaser is availble here: http://3threatmedia.wordpress.com/2009/07/22/flo-rida-interview-tea... (the full interview is under obligation to a publication and cannot be released online until after the mag is published).
nobody gives a shit about those stupid old songs from the 80s and 90s. Flo Rida's versions are 100 times better. aight. Artist like Kanye and T.I. sample too, idiot.
