    Flo Rida, known for hyper-charged rap hits, peeled off his glasses and pop persona yesterday during a surprise visit to Boston Arts Academy.

    Flo Rida dropped by the school after appearances on FM stations Jam'n 94.5 (WJMN) and Kiss 108 (WXKS) for a relaxed question-and-answer session with students.

    "Your name is Flo Rida, right? Not Florida?" one student asked.

    "I just saw you on TV so I'm, like, starstruck," said a female student-fan while snapping pictures of the rapper.

    "I just want to know why you always wear glasses," another female student said. "And can I see you without them?"

    The Florida-born rapper obliged. Then he took questions. He explained how because of his mother's positive influence he steered clear of the drugs and violence that plagued his Carol City neighborhood. He said that naysayers urged him to "quit the rapping and get a real job," but he stayed focused on his goal, sacrificing everything, including girlfriends (cue excited murmurs from the crowd), for his dream.
