If you haven’t already heard David Guetta’s newly released single "Where Them Girls At" featuring Flo Rida and Nicki Minaj, you’ve been missing out. The song has become an instant hit after being released online earlier this month. In a recent XXL Magazine interview, the three artists talk about coming together for the single, talk about their admiration for one another, and talk about the up-beat electro crossover in recent hip-hop
XXLMag.com: You’ve been leaving your mark on urban music lately. What’s your background in hip-hop and how long have you’ve been into it?
David Guetta: Well, actually I’ve been a hip-hop DJ, but that was like 20 years ago. And then I’ve been doing electro and house music and dance pretty much all my life. But I always liked hip-hop and always been a fan of the music… I’ve had the opportunity to try to mix them both together. That’s really want I wanted to do with my last album — to mix the electronic culture from Europe with urban culture from America… I’m really happy because, when I was DJing, it was feeling like it was two communities that were almost enemies. I would DJ and play electronic music and then sometimes I would listen to some hip-hop at home, but it was really impossible to imagine that the urban sound would be heard so much. And I think it’s wonderful that everybody is together. Doesn’t matter if you’re Black or White or where you’re coming from — people just want to have a good time and party and dance.

Is this your first concert in Rio?
FLO: I performed here a few years ago. But, I am looking forward to putting on a great show for the people of Rio.
How was your experience in here when you first came to record 'Turn Around'? What did you like most in your stay here?
FLO: Ah man, the experience in shooting my video for "Turnaround" was a memorable one. We had some of the most beautiful woman in the world there. The beach was incredible... I had a great time. The best thing about my stay was meeting some of my fans in Rio. I am blessed to have fans all around the world. When I get a chance to meet them in person, it really humbles me. It encourages me to continue to make big records that make people happy.
What can we expect in your concert? What song can't miss in it? Do you intend releasing some new songs in Rio? How long will it take?
FLO: You can expect a high energy performance at my concert. I am going to put it down and party with the people of Rio! It gonna be a CELEBRATION! I'm doing all of my hit records... From "Club Can't Handle Me," to "Sugar," to "Elevator," to "Turnaround," and much more. You have to come to the concert to see the rest. TRUST ME! It will be an amazing time! I will be performing some new records that Rio hasn't seen me do before. Like I said, you don't want to miss this show!
How is your relationship with Brazilian fans?
FLO: I love my Brazilian fans... They show me so much love when I'm in Brazil.Filed under:
